WHO ARE WE? We are a group of bicycling "enthusiasts" who love to ride and we have applied our fund-raising efforts to several charitable causes, including: Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer and Diabetes. HOW DID WE GET THE NAME KILLER BEES? Well, in our local club calendars (Peninsula Bicycling Association and Williamsburg Area Bicyclists), the rides are listed according to speed. A-pace is about 18 mph - 22 mph while a B-pace is 15 mph - 18 mph. Legend has it, a group of riders started out on a B-paced ride and finished with an average of 21 mph. Someone said, "Now that was a "killer" B-pace!" WHAT DO WE DO? Four guys from the Peninsula had just signed up to participate in the MS 150 Bike Ride and suddenly the name "Killer Bees" seemed like the perfect choice for a team name. Today our team has grown to about 100 - we don't all ride every event, we don't all ride the same pace but we suit up for local charity rides and club events when ever we can. We are loosely organized - most of our communication is by e-mail and we are always looking for more riders. Bicycling is a beautiful way to keep your body, mind and spirit in balance and that is our main focus. If you are looking for a group ride, give us a try - you will be welcomed .
